Mid Year Educational Conference and Gala | Our annual mid-year educational conference and gala was held at Visalia this year. As always, the sessions were informative, Interclub Luncheon was excellent, and the evening Gala to support the California-Nevada-Hawaii Children';s Funds was a huge success. | 2/21/2024 | Volunteer at Second Harvest | We will meet for a short Division Council Meeting and quick dinner at 5:00pm, followed by sorting and packaging food for Second Harvest Food Bank., 6:00 - 8:00pm. The address is 4001 N 1st St., San Jose, 6:00 - 8:00pm. Preregistration is required. Wear good sturdy shoes with covered toes. Open shoes are not permitted. |
| 3/30/2024 | Magical Bridge Playground Garden Club | We weed, plant, and generally maintain the landscaping at Magical Bridge Playground. This is to help them avoid the use of chemicals in the area. On this particular Saturday, City Trees will plant and dedicate a special tree at the playground. Come and join us. Bring family and friends as well. Redwood City Parks and Rec provides tools for us. All we need to do is show up!! Our March event is very special, as we will help City Trees celebrate: 4,000th Ceremonial Tree Planting (Saturday, March 30th, 11am) Our organization has been busy over the last 24 years and we invite you to join us for a ceremonial tree planting to commemorate our 4,000th tree planted in the greater Redwood City area. In collaboration with the Redwood City Parks department, we will be planting a couple of beautiful trees in Red Morton Park, just outside the Magical Bridge playground. You won't need to work too hard as we are only planting two trees at this event, but we hope you will join us to celebrate growing our local urban canopy over the past 2+ decades! |
| 5/03/2024 | Special Games at West Valley College | For more than 34 years, clubs and Key Clubbers from both Division 34 (the peninnsula) and Division 12 (Campbell, San Jose and south) provide Special Games for special needs elementary school children in Santa Clara County. These games have been specially designed to accomodate the abilities of the children who attend. Typically we have as many as 950 children who participate, along with approximately 1500 volunteers and care givers. The event starts with a parade in which every child's name is announced, and then the games begin!! |
| 5/18/2024 | Governor's Visit | The Kiwanis Governor for California, Nevada, and Hawaii will visit our area on May 18, just in time for the Los Altos Kiwanis Pet Parade, followed by dinner and celebration at the Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto, starting at ..???? |
